easy tweaks on social media to get customers

Digital is the way to go and COVID-19 is proving businesses, that whatever the size, should embrace online marketing as the main platform to connect with customers whilst in lockdown.

Among all the digital platform social media is the easiest channel a business owner can set up to connect with new and existing customers. To add, social media business pages are free and accessible to almost anybody.

There are many ways to improve your social media business pages, but as a small business owner, you don’t have all the time in the world to devote to growing your pages.

Here are easy-to-implement tweaks to your social channels that can get you more customers with minimal effort.

Improve your bio or business description

The first thing your customers see on your social channels is your bio or business description. Introduce yourself to your potential customers by telling them who you are, how you can help them, where you are, and how can they reach you.

Make it simple for your customers to contact you and focus on one action. If you’re using chatbots, make sure the bots don’t let your customer call you. Instead, put your number or email address right in front of them. They’d appreciate it more and you cut the chase.

Listen and learn from the analytics

I am a solid fan of analytics. In fact, before promoting a product or a service, I make sure that I check the Facebook page or Google analytics to see if my actions would be relevant to a certain audience.

Go local with your hashtags

If you correctly use it, hashtags go a long way. Use localised hashtags to join the conversation. In Instagram, ideally, 30 hashtags would fit in but I would recommend using 3-4. In fact, I use 3. One general hashtag, a city hashtag and a product hashtag. To categorise posts, hashtags were there for that function and #it #shouldnt #be #overused.

Ask your customers and respond to comments

I’m guilty of not doing this during the start of my social media career but ever since asking customers on digital platforms, I’ve uncovered more of their needs rather than their wants. Social media is a broadcasting medium, it is, but it’s more than that. You get instant feedback by asking your customers. It’s “dagdag pogi points” (an edge) for being a great listener online and a great conversationalist.

Lastly, be useful and be helpful.

Now is not the time to sell harder but to listen to their needs. Now is the time to be useful to your customers.
